Project Overview

In August to September 2012, Deep C supported several mobilizations of Skandi Seven during the Shell DOEP (Draugen Oil Export Production), which was on critical timeline.

The Skandi Seven was a construction and flex lay vessel, and one of the client’s, Subsea 7, key vessels during the installation of the subsea oil export line at Draugen. This was located in the Norwegian Sea, outside of Kristiansund, Norway.

The Deep C Solution

Deep C provided planning and project coordination across several operations, as well as provision of engineering support. Pre-fabrication of structures for sea fastening and interfacing between vessel deck and project equipment were some of the other solutions prepared for the client.

The mobilizations also required repair and modification of suction anchors, which Deep C delivered alongside the modification and preparation of reel for pipelay. All operational activities related to installation on vessel deck, logistics handling and procurement were a part of the scope.

Results

One mobilization, totaling 1,100 man-hours, was completed in less than four days. The client reported saving an additional day on vessel time as a result. Furthermore, Subsea 7 recognized Deep C’s high level of service and its ability to effectively coordinate multiple parallel operations, delivering a solution that reduced both time and cost for them.

The entire project was executed without any injuries to personnel or damage to equipment.
